Diamondback Ride

This 38 mile, 1 hour diversion is a great way to break up the sweepers on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The Ride begins and ends at the Switzerland Cafe in Little Switzerland, NC.

Ride Map

The Switzerland Cafe is a great place to stop for lunch with good food and a nice view of the bikes going past.

Switzerland Cafe

The Diamondback has 2 outstanding twisty sections on Route 226A and NC Route 80 (Devil's Whip).

Diamondback

Leave the Switzerland Inn and start south on Route 226A. There are some fantastic twists on this stretch as it drops down to U.S. Route 221.

NC Route 226A

Turn right on Route 221 and ride it and Tom's creek Road to NC Route 80.

NC Route 80 (Devil's Whip) is intense and fun as it quickly climbs north & west to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Experienced riders should not miss this road (novices beware).

NC Route 80 (Devil's Whip)

The road gets insanely twisty as it approaches the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Finish will a nice ride on the Blue Ridge Parway back to Little Switzerland.

Little Switzerland is a nice place to stay, but I would choose Blowing Rock if I had to choose.
