Restaurants Steiningers - Salem - the infamous Steiningers in Salem, NY off of RT22 is great! All home made food, great soups as well as home made chocolates! - (Magilla) Chief Martindale Diner - Craryville - 518-851-2525. N42 12.494 W73 38.075 This is a classic Silk City Diner. Great roads to get there and just a neat place to stop. Overall experience is great, but the food is not really the strong point here. Gets quite bit of write ups because it is one of the diners right off the Taconic Parkway. (NomadWillie) West Taghkanic Diner - Ancram - I've always enjoyed stopping here. Everything they make is pretty good. It's right off of the Taconic Parkway on Route 82. There's great riding in the area, but few decent places to eat. If you don't want to deal with the traffic or congestion in the Great Barrington area, then this is a good option. - (Jimboni) DiFara's Pizza - Brooklyn - One of the world's best pizzas. Attractions New York Tourist Attractions - RoadsideAmerica.com Ausable Chasm - worth a look from Route 9 on your next Adirondack/ Lake Champlain ride. - (Easy Ed) Harriman State Park and Bear Mountain State Park - Nice spots for a picnic, a hike, or a ride. Try Seven Lakes Drive and Route 106 in the parks. The Perkins Memorial Tower atop Bear Mountain affords spectacular views of the park, the Hudson Highlands and Harriman State Park. Be sure stop at nearby West Point. (Easy Ed) United States Military Academy at West Point - Pretty grounds on the Hudson Cliffs. Good military museum. See Cadet parade on Saturdays. Be sure to ride the Storm King Highway (Route 218), Route 6/202, Route 301, and Seven Lakes Drive and Route 106 in Harriman State Park. (Easy Ed)
Lodging Tupper Lake Motel - Beth and I stay at this motel in Tupper Lake, N.Y. Clean, inexpensive and very biker friendly. When we go there, we spend 2 or 3 nights and use it as a hub for day rides of 200 miles or so. (OLRON) Ramada Inn - New Hartford - We had 45 bike in 94 and they gave us the Main. area to park our bikes,Next to the pool :) .. It had a gate we could close at night. They are Biker firendly and offer group discount for the rooms.. GREAT riding area not far from Oswago Ny which now has over 15ft of snow lol..I never thought of NY as wine country BUT alot of wineries up there for he wino's here lol..I ll think of more as my brain clears :) (OldRadco)
