Ausable Ride Preview
This 210 mile ride starts with Route
86 north and then a nice curvy
run along the West Branch Ausable River on Essex CR 21 (River Road).
Make sure to get a peek at the Olympic Ski Jumps ahead.

CR 21 - Ski Jumps
Turn right on scenic NY Route 73 and
enjoy great alpine views to Keene. In Keene, turn left on
twisty Essex CR 13 (Hurricane Road) (video)
and experience a great tight and twisty ride.
Turn left on Route 9N and follow it
east to the town of Elizabeth.
Leave Elizabeth and ride Essex CR 10
Road) and Walker Road to Lake Champlain. Follow
Lake Shore Road north along the Lake and continue past the Essex ferry.
Keep riding north on Route 22 to
Long Pond. Turn right on
Essex CR 28 (Highlands Road) and enjoy the curves
and great river views.
Ausable Chasm. Make sure to stop at the Rainbow Falls
BONE view (Best Of the NorthEast) and the Route 9 bridge for
great BONE views of the Falls and Chasm.
Leave the Chasm and enjoy pretty Ausable River views
on NY Route 9N. Next comes some great curves on little known Haselton Road
Skirt the north edge of Whiteface
Mountain on Essex County Road 18 (Gillispie Drive) to the nice
BONE view at Franklin Falls Pond.

Continue on Franklin CR 48 (River
Road) to Bloomington and then turn south on Route 3 to the town of
Saranac Lake. Grab lunch at the
Deli and take it across the street to the pretty park on Lake
Next get ready for a great Northern
Loop. Ride north on NY Route 86 to Paul Smiths. Continue on Franklin
CR 60 past Rainbow Lake to Vermontville. Turn left onto fun & curvy
Franklin CR 26 (Port Kent - Hopkinton Tpke) and follow it deep into
the Adirondack Wilderness - great road.

Turn left on NY Route 30 in
Duane and follow it past Barnum Pond (BONE View) to Saranac Lake. Turn
Franklin CR 18 (Forest Home Rd) and follow this nice
curvy road through the woods to downtown Saranac Lake.

Finish up with short ride on Ny Route 86 back to
