Lincoln Rides

Lincoln is in the heart of the White Mountains and is the eastern gateway to the Kancamagus Highway. There is good riding in all directions with a nice mix of exciting twisties and scenic sweepers. Be sure to click on the many red links in the descriptions for more information.

New Hampshire Notches

The White Mountains region is filled with great roads and spectacular scenery. Highlights include the Kancamagus Highway and Pemi Overlook (photo), Cathedral Ledge (photo), Hurricane Mountain Road, Route 113 and Evan's Notch (photo), Route 16 through Pinkham Notch, Route 302 & Crawford Notch (photo), Route 117, Route 302 and The Brick Store, and Route 112 through Kinsman Notch.

 

 

Ride - (Ride Report). This 196 mile ride is filled with with 9 Best Of New England Roads and 15 BONE views. The ride begins on the Kancamagus Highway and a stop at Pemi Overlook (photo). Continue to scenic Cathedral Ledge (photo) and the to the Intervale Rest Area (BONE View). Next is a great and exciting stretch including Hurricane Mountain Road, Route 113 and Evan's Notch (photo), Route 16 through Pinkham Notch, Route 302 & Crawford Notch (photo), Route 117, Route 302 and The Brick Store, and Route 112 through Kinsman Notch. (approx 5 hours without stops.)

 

Lunch is at Cabin Fever Restaurant in Bartlett or the Glen Junction Family Restaurant in Glen.

Northern Vermont

 

Northern Vermont combines curvy roads with pretty & remote countryside. Highlights include VT Route 102 along the Connecticut River, VT Route 114 along the Canadian border, VT Route 111, VT Route 5A, Lake Willoughby, Peacham Road, W. Barnet Road, Hillside Acres Farm, NH Route 135, and NH Route 112.

 

 

Ride - (Ride Report) - This 240 mile ride begins with a ride through Kinsman Notch and along Route 116 to breakfast at Polly's Pancake Parlor. The ride continues north on NH Route 18 and NH Route 135 along the Connecticut River. Next come the fantastic sweepers of VT Route 102 along the Connecticut River. The ride turns west along the Canadian border on VT Route 114. Enjoy new pavement on pretty VT Route 111. Turn south on VT Route 5A and stop at the pretty falls at Willoughby and spectacular south beach at Lake Willoughby (photo), Visit rural Vermont on Peacham Road and W. Barnet Road to photogenic Hillside Acres Farm (photo). Turn south on NH Route 135 and then east on NH Route 112 back to the hotel.  (approx 6 hours without stops)

 

Lunch is at the Miss Lyndonville Diner or Cafe Sweet Basil (Wed-Fri)

Northern New Hampshire

 

The Northern White Mountains have some of the best scenery in the Northeast. Highlights include the Kancamagus Highway, Bear Notch Road, Route 16, Mount Washington Auto Road, Route 26, Route 102 along the Connecticut River, Route 142, and Route 93 through Franconia Notch.

 

 

Ride - (Ride Report) - This 245 mile ride begins with the Kancamagus Highway to scenic Bear Notch Road. The ride continues on Route 16 north through Pinkham Notch to the Mount Washington Auto Road. Enjoy a spectacular climb up the mountain and then continue on Route 16 north. Turn west on rugged Route 26, through Dixville Notch and past the beautiful Balsams Hotel. Turn north on fabulous NH Route 145 and follow it toward the Canadian border. Turn south and whoop it up on the great sweepers on VT Route 102 along the Connecticut River. The ride finishes with Route 142 (BONE Road), and Route 93 through Franconia Notch. (approx 5:50 without stops)

 

Lunch is at the Moose Muck Coffee House or the Wilderness Restaurant in Colebrook, NH.

Eastern Vermont

 

Northern Vermont still has vestiges of old Vermont. This is a land of mountains and scenic dairy farms. Highlights include NH Route 112 through Kinsman Notch, NH Route 116, VT Route 25, VT 232, VT 215 past the Cabot Creamery, Peacham Road, NH Route 302 and The Brick Store, and NH Route 117.

 

 

Ride - (Ride Report) - This 165 mile ride begins by following NH 112 west through Kinsman's Notch to NH 116. NH 116 descends to the Connecticut River affording beautiful views of Vermont. NH 10 follows the river south and then the ride crosses the river into Vermont on VT 25. There are nice rides on VT 25 and Route 302 which serve as a warmup for the great twists on VT 232. The ride then continues on rural VT 215 past the Cabot Creamery (take the tour for $2). The ride turns south on Peacham Road which gives a great feel for what old Vermont was like. Stop for lunch and pie at the P&H Truck Stop on Route 302. The ride concludes with NH Route 302 and The Brick Store, NH Route 117, and Route 112 back through Kinsman Notch. (approx 4:15 without stops)

Lunch is at the P&H Truck Stop or Polly's Pancake Parlor (closes at 2:00 pm Mon-Fri & 3:00 on Sat-Sun)

New Hampshire Lakes

The Lakes Region is the southern gateway to the White Mountains. It is a great region for both scenery and riding. Highlights include the Kancamagus Highway, Route 153, the Eaton Village Store, Route 109A/Chickville Road (BONE Road), NH 113, Winona Road, West Shore Road along Newfound Lake, and Route 118.

 

Ride - (Ride Report) - This 218 mile ride follows the Kancamagus Highway west to Conway. The Route then follows great Route 153 south past Eaton Village Store to Sanbornville. Route 109A/Chickville Road (BONE Road), NH 113, Winona Road, West Shore Road along Newfound Lake, and Route 118 back to Lincoln. (approx 6 hours without stops)

Lunch is at Hart's Turkey Farm in Meredith.

Vermont Piedmont

Middle Vermont is a great mixture of farms and twisty roads. Highlights include NH 112 west through Kinsman Notch, Route 302 to the P&H Truck Stop (try the pie!), Powder Spring Road/E. Topsham Road, VT 25, VT 110, VT 132, Lake Fairlee, Lake Morey, NH 25C, and NH 118.

 

Ride - (Ride Report) - This 177 mile ride starts with NH 112 west through Kinsman Notch. The ride continues west on Route 302 to the P&H Truck Stop (try the pie!) The ride turns south on scenic Powder Spring Road/E. Topsham Road. Next is VT 25 over to the very scenic VT 110. VT 110 passes multiple photogenic farms to curvy VT 132. Have fun on VT 132 and then take a nice spin past Lakes Fairlee and Morey. The ride finishes with NH 25C and Route 118 back to Lincoln. (approx 4:45 without stops)

Lunch is at the Colatina Exit Restaurant or other restaurant in Bradford, VT.
