"Ride to Maine" Stops and Parking
Boothbay Harbor, Permaquid Point and Lighthouse, and Camden are
the three main stops during the ride up to the hotel in Ellsworth.
Map
1 is Boothbay Harbor. Commercial Street is one-way and we need to
loop around before parking by the footbridge. There is a bathroom
in the coffee shop near the parking (among other spots.) Be sure
to walk out on the
footbridge
and bring a camera. It is also a nice walk among the shops along
the waterfront.

Below
(map 2) is a zoomed map of Permaquid Point. Click on the
links below to see photos of these spots. The
Seagull Restaurant
had good food when I went recently. Park in the restaurant lot (it is
free.) There are
great views
from the restaurant. Take
the stairs
behind the restaurant down to the rocks for some great views of the
lighthouse.
There is a small charge if you wish to visit the museum.

Map 2: Permaquid Point and Lighthouse
In
Camden, park in the big lot by the
Harbormaster
(map 3.) From there you get a nice view of the harbor and the
double waterfall.
There are public restrooms right next to the parking area. Walk along
the great shops on Main Street over to the library on the corner of
Atlantic and Main. Walk across the grounds to the gazebo for a
great view
of the harbor. Finally walk across Atlantic Ave and down the walk to
harbor Park and the base of the waterfall where there are
great views
all around.
