Motorcycle Rides

New England is a great place to ride. The region has mountains, ocean, lakes, and forests.....all within a few hours of riding. In this section you will find information about rides, roads, restaurants, and more. This page is your key to a wealth of local information in two main parts.

(1) The navigation menu on the left side of the page will lead you to additional ride planning information.

(2) The tabular list below contains NER "Ridden and Recommended Rides."  These are excellent motorcycle rides that will be enjoyable to a visitor or a native of New England.

GPX files are for older Garmin GPS that do not use Trip Planner like the Zumo 665/660, Nav V, and the Zumo 550.

GPX-Shaping files are better for newer Garmin devices like the Zumo 595/590, Nav VI, and the Zumo 396/395 that are limited in the number of waypoints they can use.

GoogleMap is a classic Google Map that you can follow on your phone.

Custom Map is a customized Google Map with more detail.

Turn-By-Turn is a list of directions for those that prefer paper maps.

Wicasset, Camden, & Augusta

Here is 200 miles of bliss in New England, Maine to be exact. When doing this ride I suggest people stay in Rockland at the Trade Winds. Then you can have breakfast at Rockland Cafe one of the best breakfast places I've ever been too!. Then later in the day you can stop at Reds Eats for lunch or if you want a very short detour to Richmond for a cup of chili or a slice of pizza at The Old Goat. Then finish it off with a lobsta club back at The Brass Compass (however they close at 3)  so could skip lunch and just ride fast thru this great route and get back to Rockland just in time for that sammie!  201 miles (approx. 5 1/2 hours without stops)    (Jim)

NJ Road Delaware Water Gap Jersey Side

Anyone who has traveled thru the Delaware Water Gap has no doubt been on RT 209 on the Pennsylvania side of the river. On the Joisey side there is an outstanding ride. Very little traffic and plenty of scenic views, with a some twisty sections that has something for all riders. The entrance to this road on the west side is a one lane road and has a stop light that is on a 5 minute delay to control the traffic flow entering or leaving the road. This will get you to and from the same places that 209 goes, just a bit more unique.  (Willie)

8 day Massachusetts to West Virginia Loop - (Eric)

Ride Name

Ride Description

Download

Day 1 Wellsboro This section of the trip is simply routed to get to the good roads of PA., so it is a lot of interstate driving. The fun begins once you get to PA RT6. Kind of reminds me of Old US RT66. Sweepers through small towns with commercial areas broken up with stretches of farmland. The Canyon Motel in Wellsboro is VERY bike friendly. Let them know you are traveling by bike when you make reservations and they will have a gift bag for you. Must do the Wellsboro Diner for Breakfast. 407 Miles

GPX

Day 2 Front Royal The morning begins with one of the best roads in the East PA RT144. Twisties and sweepers for 100 miles with great rural and forest scenery. PA RT220 and I-99 are simply connectors. RT220 South of I-70 and US RT50 are wonderful long sweeprs through farmland. Be on the lookout for the "Mail Pouch" barn. Nice section of riding. The Super 8 in Front Royal is only 1 mile from Skyline Drive. Food is within walking distance. 330 Miles

GPX

Day 3 Princeton Ah, some great riding on this day! Travel the entire length of Skyline Drive and a nice section of the Blueridge Parkway. Riding heaven! The rest of the route all the way to Princeton, VA is sweeper perfection. Scenes of local farms and mountains in the distance are picture perfect. The Super 8 Motel in Princeton, WV is at a major interstate exit with a Super Walmart and plenty of restaurants. This is one great day of riding. 334 Miles

GPX

Day 4 Sutton This is mountain sweeper and twisties day! Don't miss the Exibition Coal Mine Tour in Berkley, WV. It makes a good midday rest stop and you get to go down into a real coal mine. The rest of the day is heaped with twisties and mountain scenery. The New River Gorge Bridge is an engineering marvel at over 800 ft. tall. The motel at Truck Stop "64" is reasonable and clean. They often have a country band playing in the evenings in the restaurant. They were a really good time after a long day of riding. The A&W Glass Cafe is a real winner for breakfast. 313 Miles

GPX

Day 5 New Market Here is a day with twisties, sweepers and then twisties once again with great mountain and rural scenery. At about the 142 mile mark you travel into the back country of the Shannadoah Mountains on Smoke Hole Road. This is a well paved but narrow mountain road. It is wise to take your time on this section. Enjoy the views and watch the blind curves. The town of New Market is very quaint with some very nice eating choices. 281 Miles

GPX

Day 6 Gettysburg Well it is time to start heading back North, but via the curvy route. This day features all types of roads and is a truly enjoyable set of roads. The evening is spent in historic Gettysburg, PA. Lots of history and places to site see and restaurants of all types. Any of the noted hotels are good and reasonably priced for a tourist town. Discounts can be had on the WEB. 325 Miles

GPX

Day 7 Bushkill - Port Jervis This day features some nice sections of Lancaster County PA and Amish country. As well as the Delaware Water Gap. If you like Italian food especially Veal Parm don't miss eating at Petrizzo’s Restaurant on US RT209 in Bushkill as noted on the route map. They do a great job and wonderful portions. There is a HUGE Cabellas store at the intersection of PA61 and I-78. Nice rest stop and a fabulous store to visit. There are several motels along RT6 and the Shady brook Motel is a nice one. 267 Miles

GPX

Day 8 Home The last day of this trip has a morning of wonderful roads including the Hawk's Nest, NY RT97 and sum of the southern Catskills and Hudson Valley. The afternoon is simply set up to get the rest of the way home. It has been a long week, but a great ride! 307 Miles
