Maine is a large enough state to present many different types of riding opportunities. The rocky coastline, with it’s many rural and scenic peninsulas, is perhaps the most common destination and it is well worth the trip. We recommend planning coastal tours for slightly off-season, to avoid the summer crowds and traffic on US 1.
The vast portion of Maine is forest, and there is plenty of good riding to be found in the solitude of western Maine and the North Woods, with hardly any traffic to speak of. Take in the beautiful natural scenery of the lakes regions near Sebago Lake and Rangeley/Moosehead Lakes, and watch out for moose!
