NER Notes

Western Connecticut’s US 7 runs through the pretty Housatonic Valley. Race fans should check out Lime Rock Park Racetrack and watch a free practice session. Route 41 is a nice ride. Beautiful Dutchess County boasts horse farms, scenic farms on rolling hills, and great riding roads. The scenery rivals the best of Vermont. Great roads abound that combine bucolic bliss with exciting curves.

The ride follows Route 301, Gipsy Trail Road, and Beaver Bog Road to Lake Candlewood in CT. Then follow CT 39, CT 37, and back roads to Iron Mountain Preserve, and South Kent Road, Segar Mountain Rd, Carter Rd, and US 7 north along the Housatonic River to Mohawk Mountain. The ride returns to US 7 and follows a pretty stretch along the river to the West Cornwall Covered Bridge.

Route 4 and White Hollow Rd to Lime Rock and then on to lunch at Toymaker’s in Falls Village. Salmon Kill Road, 41, 4, Sharon Mtn Rd, Skiff Mtn Rd, 341 into Dutchess County. 24,9, 21 back to hotel.

Lunch at the Mountainside Cafe in Falls Village, CT.
