NER Notes
Eastern Vermont still has vestiges of old Vermont. This is a land of mountains and scenic dairy farms.
This ride follows NH 112 west through Kinsman’s Notch to NH 116. NH 116 descends to the Connecticut River affording beautiful views of Vermont. NH 10 follows the river south and then the ride crosses the river into Vermont. There are nice rides on VT 25 and US 302 which serve as a warmup for the great twists on VT 232.
The ride then continues on rural VT 215 past the Cabot Creamery (take the tour for $2). The ride turns south on Peacham Road which gives a great feel for what old Vermont was like. Stop for lunch and the locally-famous pie at the P&H Truck Stop on US 302. The ride concludes with US 302 and The Brick Store, NH 117, and NH 112 back through Kinsman Notch.
Lunch is at the P&H Truck Stop or Polly’s Pancake Parlor (closes at 2:00 pm Mon-Fri & 3:00 on Sat-Sun)
