Another must-do epic ride. From the MT side, you’ll ascend fairly quickly on wide paved highway up to the pass, where there’s a visitor center. It’s the western side where sweepers come to die. Miles and miles of them, tracing the river through thick forest lands with mountainsides all around.

Technically, the western end of Lolo Pass ends in the Nez Perce town of Kooskia, but the continued ride westward along the Clearwater River provided an uninterrupted continuation of the long miles of sweepers and majestic scenery, though a much different landscape.
