NER Notes
The Northern Tier/Northern Pennsylvania region is one of the most rural and heavily forested parts of the north-eastern United States, and one of the least densely populated. It also has some of the best roads and views in the Keystone State.
The ride passes the National Soaring Museum overlooking Elmira on the way to Leonard Harrison State Park and its Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. The ride continues on fantastic PA 144 (video) which may be the top twisty road in Pennsylvania. Next is curvy PA 120 to Hyner View State Park & its scenic lookout. Next are some great twists on PA 44 and 973. Finally the route turns north on PA 287 back toward NY and Elmira.
Lunch is takeout from the Germania Country Store or the Wellsboro Diner to eat at Hyner View, or at Socky’s Restaurant in Renovo, or in Jersey Shore.
