NER Notes

This great loop was part of an organized NER ride with no groups. It begins and ends at the Vanilla Bean Cafe. Great roads include Grassyfield Rd, Joshuatown Rd, and Hopyard Rd. Stops include Gillette Castle, the Chester-Hadlyme Ferry, and Chapman Falls in Devil’s Hopyard State Park.

Lunch is at Harry’s Place in Colchester. Lots of twisties.

Nice ride down and up eastern Connecticut. Decent combination of rolling straight state highways and some nice curvy back roads. Joshuatown Road is a gem. The ferry is worth doing at least once, though it was closed today due to COVID-19.

Alternative lunch plan: grab delicious sandwiches at the Hadlyme Country Store near Gillette Castle. Eat there or bring along to stop for a picnic in Devil's Hopyard State Park along the route.

How were the road conditions at the time you RECENTLY rode?

    Very Good - minor imperfections
