NER Notes

Beautiful and fun riding through the southern Rockies. Plenty of mountain, river and high desert scenery. Lots of twisties east of Taos through the canyons, although you’d better hit those roads at off-peak times if you hope to do some leaning – there are few roads in/out, so traffic builds quickly. Very few passing zones in that section as well, so prepare to sit back and enjoy the scenery.

Simply gorgeous riding through here. The traffic was frustrating in and around Taos, similar to Sedona AZ. It's a destination - I'd love to spend a few days there myself.

I'd avoid the rest of US 64 in the state, west of the Apache reservation - fairly populated and less interesting agricultural flatlands. Approaching from the north in Colorado or south from the Santa Fe area is probably a better bet for overall riding nirvana.

How were the road conditions at the time you RECENTLY rode?

    Very Good - minor imperfections
