NER Notes

The West Catskills are a mix of wooded plateau and reservoirs.

This ride visits Museum at Bethel Woods in Bethel, NY that celebrates the Woodstock Music Festival that took place on this site from August 15-18, 1969. If you leave the hotel at 9, you should arrive at the museum just as it opens. Hours are 10-7 and admission is $15. Near the museum is the Woodstock Festival Monument that marks the location of the stage during the concert.

After lunch in Downsville, enjoy the curvy road and great views along the Pepacton Reservoir. Other highlights include great Frost Valley Road) (photo), the pretty Rondout Reservoir, and CR-46. Finish with Climb over the Shawangunk Ridge on through Minnewaska State Park and stop for a great view at the Shawanagunk Scenic Overlook. Negotiate the hairpin and then ride back to the hotel.

Lunch is at the Old Schoolhouse Inn Restaurant in Downsville.

I did not get a chance to go into the museum, but what I saw outside was amazing. the scenery and the monument. Was in awe.

love the covered bridge and the little park next to it. great place to take a break and enjoy the view.

Had Lunch at the Old School Restaurant. Food was very good and the atmosphere was outdoorsy with all the stuff wild animals.

My favorite part of the trip was the twisties along the Reservoir and ending with an amazing view from the Shawangunk Ridge Lookout.

How were the road conditions at the time you RECENTLY rode?

    Very Good - minor imperfections
